“There’s pain that uses you. And there’s pain that you use.” - Darlene Snell (Ozark Ever had to put down a pet that you love?
Yeah, fuck that pain, it's rough. It's their eyes that get you. That kind of pain can chew you up and spit you out. Like a piece of gum when the flavour has gone. It gnaws on your happiness. Gnaws on your motivation to do anything. Leaves you as little more than discarded chewed up mess on the side of the road. You're it's victim. It used you. But on the flip side, have you ever been so angry at something that it drove you to positive action? Like a hated, mind-numbing day job. One that grated on your soul so violently, that without a second thought, you'd chose to be ANYWHERE in the world but there? One that became so torturous, you started writing in your spare time, steadily learning to be a copywriter? You're not pains victim any longer. You've used it. Bent it to your will. Like a fire igniting in your chest, that pain reminded you that you're alive. As copywriters, we need to learn to be this pain, without gnawing at our audience until there's nothing left, leaving them as little more than a husk. We are a shot of adrenaline to the heart, driving our readers to positive action. Giving us money. (Or to get a dog. They're fucking cool.) - Mr Safe
