"Do you think politics is only about winning the argument? That whoever has the right fact, at the right time, wins?" Theresa D'Agostino (The Wire) You don’t have to be right to be successful.
You don’t even have to ‘win’ to be successful. It's not facts and figures that'll bring you success. It's Emotion. It's manipulation. And don't get confused, this isn't complicated either. Hell, Theresa eloquently coined this phrases while still finding time for a bit of McNulty on the side. Your customers are no different either (well, minus the banging McNulty bit). They don't really care about the details. You're not a mathematician. You're not a scientist. That is not your fight. No, it's the pen that's in your arsenal, and emotions are your bullets. You're the maniacal whisper in their ear. The stranger at parties. The madman with the gun. You get the pulse racing. The heart to stop. You're the thing the see and hear and feel that they'll never forget. The right tone, with the right language, spoken to the right people, at the right time. It’s about leverage. About knowing your customer so intimately your wife will get suspicious. So leave the facts and figures at home. And never concern yourself with whether you're right. - Mr Big
